Press Release SPARTAN Mengenai Penetapan Tersangka Dr Rizal Ramli
Nomor : 03/B/SPARTAN/ Hal : Press Release Lamp : - Menangkap Risal Ramli Melanggar Kaidah Demokrasi! Lack of faith disturbing? — The Malaysian Insider
FEB 19 — Sometimes the best explanations are the simplest ones. Princess Diana died because her driver was drunk and going too fast. The Twin Towers were hit by Islamic terrorists, not CIA agents. The continued success of Simon Cowell and the Osbourne family is, indeed, one of the harbingers of the apocalypse.
To this list, we can add the reason Manchester United will, in all likelihood, move five points clear of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table by beating Fulham.
They have a better team. Now this may come as a surprise to those still looking for clues to account for the change in the balance of power this season. In recent months, many otherwise rational people have become convinced that Liverpool have frittered away supremacy in the title race based on a combination of rogue and random factors.
Mind games played by Sir Alex Ferguson, the fractious contract negotiations of Rafael Benitez, boardroom unrest at Anfield or any number of peripheral events are believed to have inspired Manchester United to claw away at Liverpool's lead. This is good news for analysts, commentators and headline-writers, who have had, as The Flintstones theme tune puts it, a gay old time.
Without wishing to spoil the fun, however, it is more straightforward than that. Take the best Manchester United XI and the best Liverpool XI and put them together: how many of Benitez's team would get into Ferguson's? Not many. And that is why the championship is again heading for Old Trafford.
By my reckoning, maximum four, minimum two. Split the difference, call it three. Whichever way, there is nothing here to suggest that Liverpool can get the better of Manchester United this season, or next, without substantial upgrading in the summer.
Using it, Liverpool would be placed above Chelsea, although not by a huge distance. Manchester United, by contrast, would dominate Chelsea with just one player (Frank Lampard) or a generous three (Lampard plus Jose Bosingwa and Ashley Cole) getting into Ferguson's current team.
Assessment is made on form this season, not reputation. So while there may have been a time when Jose Reina, Liverpool's goalkeeper, would have shaded it from Edwin van der Sar, in goal for Manchester United, it is not right now when the Dutchman has beaten a long-standing British record for minutes without conceding a league goal, and is closing in on the 1,390- minute European record set by Dany Verlinden of Club Brugge in Belgium in 1990.
Javier Mascherano is another who would have walked into the holding midfield role at any club last season, but he has been a disappointment this year, perhaps as a result of his exertions for Argentina during the Olympics.
That leaves Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard as the two Liverpool players who would definitely be accommodated in the Manchester United team while, on a good day, one of Xabi Alonso or Mascherano could make the defensive midfield and an out-of-position Jamie Carragher would contend at full back.
Benitez's penchant for drama has drawn understandably negative comment as Liverpool's grip on the prize has weakened, but he cannot be held solely responsible. His squad deficiencies are being exposed just as Manchester United's strength in depth is at its most apparent.
Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager, had it right. Asked about the mind games that famously denied Newcastle United the title in 1996, he replied that Newcastle's defence, not Kevin Keegan's outburst on Sky TV, determined the final placings. Logical explanations get you nowhere in the pantomime that is the Premier League, though, so instead we waste valuable time analysing pronouncements from Old Trafford, and their effect, at the expense of crediting what is arguably the finest squad of footballers assembled by an English club.
There has never been a group like the one at Manchester United. Gary Neville versus Wes Brown versus Rafael da Silva, and that is just for the right back spot. Wayne Rooney versus Dimitar Berbatov versus Carlos Tevez versus Cristiano Ronaldo. Yet we ignore this and become distracted by Rafa's rant.
There are similarities with the collapse of England's cricket team in Jamaica two weeks ago, in that several small factors might have made an impact on the cohesion of the team, but none were actually in the middle with bat in hand.
So Benitez does not get on with Rick Parry, the chief executive? Big deal.
Jimmy Greaves, in wonderfully flippant mode, summed up the inconsequence of departmental relationships on the dressing room, by recalling his time at Tottenham Hotspur. “Most of us didn't like Bill Nicholson, and Bill Nicholson didn't like us,” he said. “In fact, the only thing we all agreed on was that we couldn't stand the board of directors.”
Benitez's distance from Parry and George Gillett, one half of the partnership of American owners, may be a problem for the long-term stability of the club and could be very damaging in the summer if he leaves, but it should not be, here and now, an issue for the playing staff. Nor should Benitez's feelings about Ferguson's influence on English football have an effect.
That press conference tirade is often cited as explanation for Liverpool's reversal of fortune, but what would the fall-out be anyway? That Liverpool players rally around Benitez in the desire to stick one up United? They seem to have had that motivation for some while, judging by Mascherano's furious display at Old Trafford last season.
The idea that Benitez's claims put pressure on his players is also ridiculous; as if there were previously no pressure on a Liverpool team with an opportunity to win its first title in the modern era. Had Benitez taken a vow of silence until the end of the season, the tension at Anfield would still be oppressively thick.
The reality is that Liverpool are going up against a colossal group of players at United and no team, not even the lavishly-assembled Chelsea, can live with them right now. They have a unique multiplicity, so even the understudies of understudies would get into many good teams (as Mikael Silvestre did at Arsenal this season).
It is in many ways the perfect squad, because it also provides for the future in players such as Ben Foster, the reserve goalkeeper, and Jonny Evans, who has fitted in magnificently at centre half in the absence of Rio Ferdinand this season.
It is a sign of United's power that they could play an unconventional central midfield of Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher against Chelsea and still win comfortably. On another day it might be Michael Carrick and Anderson or Paul Scholes. If Benitez had United's squad he could rant at or fall out with who he liked: he would still win the league, as United almost certainly will.
Now combine the two teams, starting at the back. Both have good keepers, but there can be no argument that a man who has gone 1,212 minutes without conceding a league goal is among the players of the season. Van der Sar, therefore, gets the nod over Reina. He has been on a roll since emerging victorious from the penalty shoot-out at the Champions League final last season.
United have three strong right backs and the only alternative would be to overlook them all for Carragher, Benitez's defensive rock, out of position in a role he has occupied in key matches in Europe. This would be appealing because, to put it bluntly, he is not getting into this team at centre half.
Those positions are reserved for Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, an early contender for Footballer of the Year. Ferdinand's appearances through the season have been restricted by injury, but Vidic has been a constant and as a partnership they have now surpassed John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho of Chelsea.
At left back, United's Patrice Evra is the best in the country at the moment, ahead of Ashley Cole, of Chelsea.
Midfield brings another Manchester United landslide with Gerrard the only Liverpool player in a four that would comprise Ronaldo, Fletcher and Giggs. Torres would be the goalscoring spearhead, but his partner would be Rooney. Final total: Manchester United 8, Liverpool 3. And one of Liverpool's three gets in with a shoe-horn.
Despite the excellent job done by Roy Hodgson, Manchester United should beat Fulham and, at that moment, a daunting lead will open up. Liverpool still have to go to Old Trafford, so the battle is not over, but the biggest shock of the season would be if United threw it away from here.
If that were the case, there genuinely would be need for an investigation — into whether Ronaldo's heart was still in Manchester, whether Berbatov's arrival had unsettled the team, if Ferguson was correct in his treatment of Tevez.
Were Manchester United to blow it, we would all be looking behind the story for clues. It is easier to work out what has gone wrong at Liverpool, though: the answer is right there, on the teamsheet. — The Daily Mail
Umno Youth angrily mobs Karpal in Parliament
DEWAN RAKYAT, Thurs:
7:07pm UPDATE: DAP chairman and MP for Bukit Gelugor Karpal Singh was confronted by a group of Selangor Umno Youth members at the Parliament tower block this afternoon but this soon culminated in a shouting match and a scuffle that led MP for Segambut Lim Lip Eng to having his shirt tugged.
He accused Umno Youth of having sent him two bullets while debating the Royal Address.
"Where did the celaka Pemuda Umno fellows get the bullets?" he had asked while pronouncing himself not afraid.
The drama started when Karpal was confronted by the 22-member group comprising Selangor Umno Youth members as the MP was making his way into the parliament's tower block at 2.45pm.
However, Karpal refused to recant his allegation that the wing had sent bullets in the mail to him recently, as well as using the term “celaka” (damn) to berate the movement.
Pakatan Rakyat MPs - Fong Kui Loon (DAP-Bukit Bintang), N. Gobalakrishnan (PKR-Padang Serai) and Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut), who just came back from lunch, went to Karpal’s aid after being informed by parliament staff of the incident.
They claimed they were roughed up by the mob, with their bodies pushed and shoved by several Umno members. "One even pulled my tie. At one point, I nearly fell into the fountain," Lim claimed.
However, the trio manage to wheel Karpal into the House, while the Umno Youth group continued to heckle and shout at them.
Moments later, Liew Chin Tong (DAP-Bukit Bendera) tried to cool down the situation but he was greeted by more shouts.
"Who are you? Go away," shouted several members of the mob.
.
Karpal's son, Gobind Singh (DAP-Puchong), who sprinted to his father's aid, traded verbal blows with the group. At one point, Gobind and a member of the mob had to be restrained by their respective members to prevent fisticuffs.
The situation improved after BN Backbenchers Club (BNBBC) chief Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing appeared and urged the group to disperse.
"Please go back and respect the House. We can't have such incidents happening here," he told them.
Gombak Umno Youth chief Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, who was part of the mob, told reporters that they are Umno members “willing to die defending the party.”
"He (Karpal) must stop insulting the Rulers and the Malays," he said. “Our patience is running out.”
Karpal immediately took up the matter in Chambers and demanded to know how the group made it into the compound.
"What security is the House providing?" he asked speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, who promised to investigate and assured members that everything was done to protect them.
"I am disabled but not intimidated by this. The police were there and they just watched," Karpal claimed.
Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said not agreeing with Karpal was not an excuse to get physical with him. "We must come up with a ruling that all parliamentarians must be protected," he said.
Later, at a Press conference at the Parliament lobby, Karpal remained defiant despite the scare. “I maybe in a wheelchair but I will not be cowed or intimidated by anyone,” the MP dubbed the Tiger of Jelutong said.
The Press conference was also attended by Pakatan Rakyat leaders and members. Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP parliamentary leader, Lim Kit Siang were at Karpal's side.
The MP for Bukit Gelugor also declared he would not apologise for the terms he had used while debating the Royal Address yesterday.
“There is no question of apology," he said. "They abused and threatened me and insisted I apologise. I said that was out and told them back off. They were becoming menacing and they looked like they were ready to hit me."
Karpal likened the group antics as to that of brazen gangsters. “As an MP, I have duties which I will carry out without fear,” he said.
Karpal also criticised parliament security. “Each time we start the sitting, there is a motion by the Home Minister to ensure that members have safe passage to parliament and are safe from any disturbances while here. How could they allow them to enter the parliament compound? Where is the security?” he asked.
Despite the incident, Karpal did not lose his sense of humour. “Singh is King. I should be paid royalty for promoting the movie (the Bollywood movie). I will share the royalty with you all (looking at the press),” he quipped.
Karpal had twice referred to the title of the movie in passing as a way of reinforcing his credentials as a fearless man.
Opposition leader, Anwar said he was disappointed with the uncultured behaviour of the Umno Youth members. “I demand fast action from the authorities that MPs are safe and their security assured,” he said.
Lim said this was the first time the Parliament history that such an incident had occurred. “It is shameful and outrageous. It is in violation of parliament sanctity. This shows how ugly Malaysian politics have become,” he said.
Lim called on Umno Youth Chief Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein and Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to publicly apologise for this outrage.

Lulus Bachelor of Arts (B.A. - Sarjana Muda Sastera) mereka sertai Kerajaan, ramai di Kementerian Luar. Jadi second secretary (setiausaha kedua), first secretary (setiausaha pertama) dan kemudian jadi duta.
8. Sekarang anak orang pekan pun susah nak kerja di luar negeri. Tak suka cocktail party kerana segan nak bercakap. Orang asing nak cakap bahasa lain, kerap kali guna bahasa Inggeris.
10. Nampak sekarang sama saja - anak orang ulu atau anak orang pekan. Dulu kedua-dua boleh, sekarang kedua-dua pun tak boleh.
15. Demikian nasib orang Melayu bandar dan luar bandar. Dulu Mat Salleh (orang putih) anggap orang Melayu bodoh, tak boleh pegang jawatan. Sekarang orang Melayu sendiri anggap Melayu kampung bodoh.
16. Hai lah nasib!
BN, opposition hit by fallout from Wong scandal
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 — The storm over the semi-naked photographs of an opposition assemblywoman may have started as a private matter, but it has now become a complicated political mess for both sides.
Bullets have been fired at the Barisan Nasional for using it as a political weapon. But the opposition Pakatan Rakyat is also grappling with the difficulties of defending its assemblywoman without alienating the conservatives in its midst.
The BN took the first hit after the photographs of Elizabeth Wong began circulating. Some even called it a BN conspiracy, despite the lack of evidence.
“This is a nasty, humiliating personal attack on her and we have seen this pattern of attack in Perak, Kedah and now, in Selangor,” opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was quoted as saying in The Star daily yesterday.
Asked for proof that the BN was responsible, he reportedly said several blogs had made the link.
Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday denied that the BN was behind the scandal, and told the opposition to stop making baseless accusations.
“Where is the proof? Who did it? I don't know anything about it and suddenly the issue exploded in the papers. If they want to accuse us, please show proof,” he said.
There seems to be widespread belief in a conspiracy. This is not surprising as the BN is carrying the heavy burden of a loss of public confidence.
The timing of the photographs comes close to the toppling of the opposition government in Perak, and the resignation of an opposition assemblyman in Kedah. V. Arumugam resigned abruptly after being accused of marrying another woman without divorcing his first wife.
“He was targeted, and it turned into a morality issue,” said political analyst Khoo Kay Peng.
In fact, many BN leaders, including MCA women's chief Datuk Chew Mei Fun and Gerakan women's chief Tan Lian Hoe, have been sympathetic to Wong.
They were swift to support her when the photographs of her asleep, partially naked, surfaced.
Wong, 37, who tendered her resignation on Tuesday, did not say who took the photographs, but police are looking to question her former boyfriend Hilmi Malek, 32.
But what caught attention was Umno Youth chief aspirant Datuk Seri Dr Khir Toyo's call for Wong's resignation. “She is a single person. How can she allow a man into her room when they are not married?” he was quoted as saying.
There is vast sympathy for Wong from the public, and Dr Khir was slammed by many for his remarks.
But the opposition is also aware that there is a segment of Malaysian society who thinks like him, and views premarital sex as a sin.
“Wong the politician understands that there are people who do mind, and some could be in her constituency, hence her offer to resign,” columnist Zainul Arifin wrote in the New Straits Times.
Wong had said she wanted to resign because she believed the attacks by the BN would continue with greater intensity.
But even within her coalition, there appears to be difficulties.
The conservative Pas has not spoken with one voice. While its women's chief Nuridah Salleh supported Wong, its Selangor leadership has been ambivalent.
“If investigations reveal any moral transgression on the part of Wong, we feel that appropriate action must be taken against her to safeguard the integrity and good name of Pakatan Rakyat and the Selangor government,” it said in a statement on Tuesday.
The issue is complicated by the fact that Wong's former boyfriend is Muslim, and is subject to Islamic laws on morality, such as those on close proximity.
“The matter could take on a new dimension,” said an MCA politician.
As Khoo noted, the political twist in this private matter has merely reinforced the belief that sex scandals are the most potent tool to destroy political rivals in Malaysia. — The Straits Times
Dr. Haron Din ulas isu mufti & derhaka
Bahagian Dua)
- azm _

Pembetulan : KONSPIRASI SYIA'H DALAM PERISTIWA KARBALA
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, Sedikit pembetulan : bukan pembunuhan Yazid, tapi pembunuhan Syaddina Hussain, maaf atas kesilapan ketik . Ahmus --- On Fri, 1/9/09, Ahmad <ahmus@yahoo. From: Ahmad <ahmus@yahoo. |
Elizabeth Wong and partisan politics
FEB 18 — Elizabeth Wong has been asked to go on leave and PKR will only make a decision whether to accept her resignation when she returns.
The fact that she has not done anything wrong and yet offered to resign her positions in order not to bring problems to her own party is most honourable.
The support shown to her has been tremendous, as can be seen from the 400-odd comments (and still counting) in her blog supporting her and urging her not to resign.
I regret that certain politicians from BN have prejudged her based on the photographs alone (fortunately, there are others who have stood up for her) and have compared this to CSL video, which is totally unfair. That video shows someone “caught” in the act of cheating his wife and family whereas the Eli Wong pictures do not show any wrongdoing.
Just because she is from another party does not mean that she should be attacked and put down.
In life, and in politics, there must be certain sense of decency and conscience.
Sometimes we must not be too caught up in partisanship. You can be a member of a certain political party, but please note that not everything from another party is wrong and must be criticised. Not everything from your own party is right and beyond criticism.
Political parties are just tools to achieve certain aims. Just because we are members of Party A do not mean that we must go all out to put down members of Party B. If certain policies of Party B are good for the people, support those policies. If certain policies of Party A are not good, criticise them as hard as you can.
If our children are in the wrong, we must let them know that what they did was wrong; only then can they grow up to be good people.
Why must politics be dragged to such low levels?
As in boxing, one must not hit below the belt. In life, there are certain acts that are taboo, such as adultery, murder and rape, character assassination, etc. In politics, we are supposed to support what is right and good, and reject what is bad and wrong; it does not matter whether these come from your own party or from the other side.
The great Deng Xiao Peng was a communist, but when he realised that not everything about capitalism is bad, he started to adopt certain free market policies and the result is rapid boom in the economy of China, and a rise in the standard of living of millions of people.
Ultimately, it all comes down to the people. Politics must be about people’s interest, and not self or even party interest.
In this case, if we do some soul searching (and based on the photographs alone), has Eli Wong done anything wrong? Most people will say no. I believe that anyone can do a random survey in his community and the answer will still be no.
So if she has done nothing wrong, then the logical thing for all of us, who claim to have a conscience, is to rise and stand behind her or any other person caught in a similar situation.
I appeal to leaders who are on the opposing side of Eli Wong: before you condemn her, search your own conscience first.
