PKR’s Vice president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan has expressed his confidence that 13 Sabah MPs would crossover to Pakatan Rakyat.

This coming from a “senior” Sabah politician who has lost his grip on the reality of Malaysian politics and rejected by almost all political organizations in the state.

Jeffrey himself has a very colourful past. Jumping from one party to another in his quest for post and “recognition”.

Finally PKR offered him the “recognition” he needed. Once very critical of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, he is now among his numero-uno supporter who suddenly worship the grounds that the self-proclaimed “prime-minister-in-waiting” walked on.

A political observer said that Jefrrey is indeed a genious. However, he is suffering from superiority-complex. This was his major weakness as he tought everybody else is beneath him.

No wonder none of his scheme ever works.

He was one of the brains behind PBS’ decision to “leave” Barisan Nasional, on the eve of the July 1990 state election.

This has resulted to a disastrous move for the party. That was the beginning of the end for PBs at that time.

After a few years of political disarray, Jeffrey attempted to rejoin PBS but was not well received by his own brother.

Commenting on the return, the party’s vice-president Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili said that the problem with Dr Jeffrey was that he has left the party twice, and “every time he left he asked us to close shop and follow him”.

He also added that given Jeffrey past political records, he agreed with the majority view of the grassroots that accepting him will only devalue PBS.

As if now, PKR is only “collecting” and “re-grouping” unwanted leaders and politicians. And Dr Jeffrey’s dream to become the supreme leader is still only a dream. - 19/8/2008
