KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 (Bernama) -- The MCA has formed a committee to implement the party's reform agenda, its secretary-general Datuk Wong Foong Meng said.
"The committee, known as the Party Reform Committee, will be headed by MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat and its members will be determined later," he told reporters after the party's executive committee (exco) meeting at Wisma MCA here, on Tuesday.
Earlier, Wong said Ong had elaborated on the party's three main struggles covering economic, political and racial harmony issues.
The committee, Wong said, was formed to address these matters.
The meeting was chaired by Ong, who did not attend the press conference as he had another important function to attend.
It is understood that his deputy, Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, did not attend the exco meeting.
At the meeting, Chua's son, Chua Tee Yong was invited to present his paper on the proposal for PLUS acquisition by the government which was tabled in Parliament on Feb 26.
Wong said that MCA also asked its legal bureau chief Wong Nai Chee to look at the agreements of 22 expressways and highways, and decided to incorporate the views on the legal and financial aspects of the matter.
"The MCA would like to see some changes in the present system," he added.
