Don't View Pullout Report Lightly, Says Muhyiddin

SINGAPORE, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- Reports that a Barisan Nasional (BN) component party planned to leave the coalition should not be viewed lightly, said Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

I am disappointed with the news that a component party wants to pull out of BN. This should never happen," he said.

Muhyiddin, who is also International Trade and Industry Minister, said the BN had to take proactive measures to restore the coalition including carrying out a rebranding exercise.

"We know that the component parties are saddled with weaknesses," he told Malaysian reporters on the sidelines of the Asean Economic Ministers Meeting here Thursday.

He added that the BN had to be repackaged to present the right image to voters.
