KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today visited eminent veteran journalist Tan Sri Abdul Samad Ismail who has been warded for lung infection.
"We pray that he will recover, God willing," Abdullah said after spending about 10 minutes at the Pantai Medical Centre here where Abdul Samad or better known as Pak Samad, is being treated.
Abdullah said Abdul Samad was in a critical condition and doctors at the hospital were trying their best to treat his ailment.
Abdul Samad, 84, known for his anti-colonial stance and for promoting Malay nationalism through his radical and critical writings, was warded at the hospital's intensive-care unit on Aug 24.
His daughter Nuraina, who is also a journalist, said the infection had spread to his other organs.
"The worst infected are his kidneys, but I am grateful that his heart is still in good condition," she said.
